Julius Caesar was born on July 12 100 B.C. into a patrician family. A patrician family is a ruling class family in Rome. He was supposedly a descendant of the Trojan prince Aeneas. His mother and father were Gaius Caesar and Aurelia. His father was a Roman senator and he also grew up with two sisters sharing the name Julia. Julius was expected to join the lower end of the political careers. But Caesar had other ideas. When Caesar was fifteen his father died. Now Caesar was not expected to join in politics. He decided to better himself. STeps he took to do so included marry into a more distinguished family, building connections with politicians one of these was Marius. Though that was not the best decision. Sulla, the dictator at the time, did not like Marius. Sulla had all the supporters of Marius thrown into jail. One of the many thrown in jail was Julius Caesar who was nineteen at the time. Sulla spared him though and some of Caesar's more influential friends got him released. The only issue was Caesar could not be in Rome until the issue calmed down. This is the time that Caesar went off to join the army.
