At the start of Julius Caesar's everyday life he would work as a soldier. Julius was married to Cornelia who was the daughter of an important dad in the popular group. Caesar was distinguished as a soldier and saved many lives. After his capture by the Cilicia pirates in which he was held at a ransom of 20 talents, he was elected military tribune in 72 B.C. At the same time he was elected for this he was growing as a public speaker and a lawyer. As he continued to grow in 68 B.C. he was elected quaestor and received a seat on the senate. Caesar had two other consuls working with him. Their names were Pompey and Crassus. Pompey wanted certain territory ideas he arranged to happen but Crassus stopped him. Caesar though convinced the two to work together and Pompey's idea was passed. Caesar was granted a Gaul and went to conquer lands. The lands he conquered include France, Belgium, Southern Holland, Germany west of the Rhine River, and most of Switzerland. Or the Ides of March. When Caesar went to the meeting he received a warning note before he walked in but did not read it. Many of the senators did not like him so they hid daggers in their toga and stabbed him 23 times. He was murdered in the Theatre of Pompey. It is said that when Caesar saw Brutus Caesar said in Greek "You, too, my child?". Brutus had been one of Caesars friends. Caesar was dead at the foot of the statue of Pompey at the age of 55. After they stabbed him the conspirators fled and Caesar's body was carried back to Calpurnia, his wife, by three slaves.
