The Aftermath of Julius Caesar's Death
After Julius Caesar's death Marc Antony wanted to carry on Caesar's Legacy. To do this he included Octavian. Caesar had been Octavians great uncle. Octavian, who was later known as Augustus, vowed revenge on the conspirators. Two years later Cassius and Brutus, two of the conspirators, committed suicide after hearing that Octavian's forces had come out the winner at the battle of Philippi in Greece. Octavian and Antony fought for many years together until in 30 B.C. Antony committed suicide. Octavian then led the empire for a while longer.
